Hello, I am Olumide Makinde, the CEO of Euniversal Stars Kennels Limited. My passion for breeding dogs was ignited by the bitter pills given to me to swallow by some dubious breeders sometime ago. Surprisingly, dog breeding later became a lifestyle for me as a result of the sordid experience I had in the hands of the those people.
Back then, I bought dogs at exorbitant prices, only to later discover that the dogs were far from the breed they were supposed to be; very poor representation of the breeds. Prior to this, I have owned dogs for just companionship and security.The first foreign breed I owned was a German Shepherd dog that was given to me as a gift by one of the palace workers who was in charge of the king’s dogs, a ghanaian by the name of Joseph in 1981. He was a staff of a security company attached to the palace of the Ooni of Ife.That was during the reign of Oba Okunade Sijuwade as the Ooni of Ife.
In the year 2015, I decided to go into dog breeding to save people from the ugly experiences many of us had gone through in the hands of dubious breeders. The year 2015 saw the birth of Euniversal Stars(ES) Kennels, a subsidiary of Euniversal Stars kennels Limited. Euniversal is pronounced ‘Universal’. Our location is Imota, Ikorodu, Lagos, Southwest of Nigeria.
We (Euniversal Stars Kennels) have been waxing stronger since then. Today, Euniversal Stars Kennels is a typical example of ‘not how long, but how well’. Our presence in the industry within this period is surprising to many. When we tell people how long we have been into professional dog breeding, mouths are left open and they say we are just pulling their legs. In the little years we started, we have covered so much grounds.
Considering that almost all the good blood lines around the world are in Nigeria, we carefully select our breeding dogs from them. Even though we frown at importation of dogs, we have no choice than to import occasionally when we cannot find a true representation of a breed around or when there is need to introduce new genes into our breeding plan. We are passionate about our dogs, so we carefully place our puppies in perfect homes. We follow-up our puppies in their new homes throughout their life span for their general well-being.Dog breeding is no more our passion, it is our way of life.
